"Don Juan Tenorio" is a play written in 1844 by Jose Zorilla, and represents the more romantic of the two Spanish-language interpretations of the legend of Don Juan (the other being "El burlador de Sevilla y convidado de piedra" -"The Deceiver of Seville and the Stone Guy" - written in 1630).
Don Juan Tenorio is a legendary Spanish nobleman who lived in Seville in the 16th century. He was famous for his beauty and personal charm, but also for his subjective treatment of women and selfishness. He became a permanent fixture in world literature, culture and pop culture.
