The drama was first staged in 1925 at the National Theater in Warsaw by Juliusz Osterwa, and then repeatedly throughout the twentieth century. The work tells the story of Edward Przełęcki, a scientist and social activist, who, in cooperation with teachers, intends to establish a people's university in Porebany.
