The anthology presents poems by those poets active in Lithuania in the first decades of the 19th century to whom the adjective "bilingual" fits. It brings Lithuanian and Polish texts, hitherto present in the Polish literary discourse only in discussions, while in Lithuanian literary studies, although functioning for a long time, but - in the case of Polish works - in editions that are not careful enough. Taken together, these texts clearly show how arbitrary and paradoxical the rules of constructing canons of national literatures can be, as well as how multidimensional, rich and changeable the phenomenon of national identity can be.
