[warmemoirs from Bochnia and the surrounding area]. A collection of nine typewritten memoir accounts from the years of World War II, mostly compiled in the 1960s.
The accounts come from a single collection and are accompanied by a few handwritten annotations and editorial notes. All were written down on sheets of form. A4 or close to it. The collection includes the following works:
DANIEC Alfred - Description of one Gestapo action in 1940 in a Bochnia mine. (Title changed by hand to: "Gestapo in the Bochnia mine - November 1940; copy of account written down in 1945; k. loose 4)
RĘBILAS Zygfryd - Memories of the old years 1939-1940. (loose 11, author's handwritten signature under the text; description of conspiratorial activities of the Bocheńska organization Union of Fighting for Poland's Freedom founded and led initially by Włodzimierz Podgórc and Mieczysław Oleś; includes, among others, a list of the organization's members arrested in 1940)
CZAJKOWSKI Władysław (pseud. Hermes) - Wspomnienia dowódcy. (k. loose 6, author's handwritten signature under the text; part of the text crossed out, including the author's name; description of the underground work of the Union for Fighting for Poland's Freedom commanded by Tadeusz Lech and the author of the memoirs, and the further fate of some members after their arrest in 1940)
PUCHAŁA Franciszek (pseud. Ząbek) - Description of major incidents in the years 1941-1944 in the Bochnia district carried out by underground conspiratorial organizations. (pp. 12, plate 3, loose pages; in the heading a pencil annotation: "according to 'Turon' this was written by Franciszek Puchała [...] a member of the Home Army sent to Poland, before the war. Home Army sent to Poland, before the war a grenade policeman"; underlining and notes after the text; description of the activities of the Union for Armed Struggle in 71 "points" reporting on individual operations and events in the Bochnia area; a separate part is devoted to "Jewish matters"; on two plates reproduced sketches of two partisan storage bunkers in Lipnica Murowana and in Mały Wiśnicz, on the third plate a map of the Bochnia area)
TURCZYNIAK Włodzimierz - Relation. (loose k. 8; author's handwritten signature after the text; handwritten corrections in the text; account by W. Turczyniak written down by Tadeusz Iwaszka, an employee of the Mus. in Oświęcim; the author, arrested in 1940 in Bochnia, describes his stay in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp and his successful escape from there in II 1943)
[ZABAWSKI Edward] - On the heroes of the "Escape of the Convicted." (f. loose [12]; text supplements an account based on the memoirs of E. Ciesielski, published in the Cultural Review; explains details of the successful escape from Auschwitz-Birkenau of a group of prisoners in IV 1943, among whom was Witold Pilecki)
TRZASKA Józef (pseud. Sęk) - [Memoir letter]. (k. loose 3; letter dated. June 19, 1970 2 Gliwice, hand-signed by the sender; handwritten notes; the author was an Inspector of the Military Insurgency Protection Service for the Bochnia District, he describes here, among other things, the organization of radio listening posts, the operation of a secret printing press and the publication of an underground magazine)
ZIEMIAŃSKI Stanisław - My recollections from the early days of the Nazi occupation. (pp. [1], 47, [3], cloth binding.; description of warfare in the area of Dabrowa Tarnowska, Mielec, Bilgoraj, Zamosc, brief German captivity ending in escape, creation in Bochnia of the underground organization Union of Fighting for Poland's Freedom, its development and activities, arrest of its members; at the end an attempt to identify the culprit for the liquidation of the Union of Fighting for Poland's Freedom; at the end two confirmations of the truthfulness of the facts presented in the memoirs by witnesses of the events, and the author's reservation from 1983 not to publish the memoirs until the end of his life)
NN - Historical Outline of the Part[yzanckiego] AK Oddz[iał] Dyw[ersyjno]-Boj[owy] Jastrzębski. (fn. [1], 45, cover in gilt; duplicator print; as the introduction shows, this study owes its origin to a group of soldiers fighting in Jastrzębski's ranks; the work includes the history of the unit, its organizational changes, and the history of the unit. The work includes the history of the unit, its organizational changes, structure, lists of names of soldiers, a calendar of combat operations from its inception in 1943 to liquidation in 1945, lists of armaments, a fold-out map of the unit's operational area (south of Bochnia), 32 photographs (contemporary copies of old photos) described in detail, depicting the soldiers of Jastrzebski).
The ensemble is a very interesting and valuable material for the history of military conspiratorial activities in the years of World War II in Bochnia and its vicinity. Folds and small tears of some of the loose pages, overall good condition. ...
