WODZICKI Kazimierz Hr.- herbu Leliwa [1816-1899]- Polish count, zoologist, ornithologist. An observer of bird biology, self-taught in the field of ornithology, he was the author of several physiographic studies, including An Ornithological Excursion into the Tatra Mountains (1851), in which, in addition to descriptions of the nature of the Tatra Mountains and its ornithofauna, he included descriptions of the life of the highlanders. He also wrote a monograph On Falconry and Hunting Birds (1858) and Ornithological Notes (volumes 1-10, 1868-1880). He amassed an almost complete collection of the birds of Poland, which he donated to the Museum of the Physiographic Commission of the AU in Cracow, the Department of Zoology of the Jagiellonian University and the Secondary Agricultural School in Czernichów. He gained international fame for his works printed in foreign journals, and was a member of several foreign scientific societies. He was a member of the Galician Sejm in Lviv and the Austrian Parliament in Vienna. The names of several new animal species were formed from his name.
