A very difficult collection to collect, especially the volumes which were published before WWII.

Initially, the yearbook was subtitled Yearbook dedicated to mountains and mountaineering, after the war Yearbook dedicated to mountains. The journal is a continuation of the "Diary of the Tatra Society".

Publishing of the yearbook began in Lviv in 1923-1926 (volumes 1-4), from 1927 in Krakow. The publisher of "Wierchy" was the Tatra Society in the years 1927-1950, since 1951 it has been the organ of PTTK (from volume 20). Since the 43rd yearbook (1974), the publishing house has been the Central Center of Mountain Tourism of PTTK in Cracow, and the publisher is the Publishing House "Wierchy".

To date, 85 volumes have been published, 16 of which were published before World War II ( in 2021, volume 85. for 2019).

The volumes of the yearbook are published in a format of about 235 x 165 mm and a volume of 340-380 printed pages. They are illustrated with color photographs, usually each volume contains 4 color illustrations in the form of unpaginated pastedowns.

In the interwar years, the yearbook was dominated by Tatra issues, but a number of articles dealt with the area of the entire Carpathian Mountains, especially the Eastern Carpathian ranges located on the territory of Poland at that time, such as Eastern Bieszczady, Czarnohora and Gorgany.

In the postwar years, the subject matter expanded to include the Sudetenland and areas associated with Polish high-mountain expeditions, including the Hindu Kush, the Caucasus, the Andes and the Himalayas
. The materials presented in the yearbook cover a very wide range of topics: the nature of the mountains and problems of their protection, the history of mountain areas, ethnography, the image of mountains in culture and art, as well as the history and current events in the fields of mountain tourism, mountaineering, caving, etc. Each time about half of the volume of the yearbook is taken up by larger articles on the above-mentioned topics. The remainder of the volume is taken up by "Chronicle", which usually includes the following sections: Scientific Research, Nature Protection, Sightseeing Notes, Historical Notes, Rescue, Tourism, In the Mountains and Under the Mountains, Materials for the Biography of Mountain People. The reporting part usually includes reports on the activities of the Mountain Tourism Commission of PTTK ZG and the Central Mountain Tourism Center of PTTK. The volume closes with the sections Writing (reviews of mountain literature), Chronicle of the Dead and Foreign-language Abstracts.

Extremely rare in the set.
