The memoirs cover the period of the First World War. The author served consecutively in the Russian army, then took part in the February Revolution, organized counter-revolutionary units, and was active in the Ukrainian POW. On the pages of the book appear Boris Savinkov, Lev Trotsky, Anton Denikin, Alexander Kerensky, and later also Jozef Pilsudski and Roman Dmowski.
