From the introduction by Andy Rottenberg: "[the exhibition]... is the first attempt to look at the 20th century art of both countries - without the political burdens that characterized mutual relations until 1989. The sparsity of space does not allow for a full presentation of the multithreaded Polish-Russian artistic relations of this turbulent period; rather, it is a look with an indication of areas still little recognized and sometimes completely unknown (such as the reception of Wyspianski in Russia), which should become the subject of specialized research in the future."
A comprehensive catalog, which accompanied the great undertaking that the exhibition "Warsaw - Moscow /Moscow - Warsaw 1900-2000" undoubtedly was. The four hundred pages of text and illustrations capture the momentum of the exhibition, which was hosted at Zachęta in late 2004 and early 2005, and offers a broad view of the complicated relationship between Polish and Russian cultures.
