On High Polonina - a series of books by Stanislaw Vincenz devoted to the Hutsul region.The individual volumes contain legends, songs, beliefs, real and legendary characters, parables, ethnological essays from the Hutsul region. The series is an example of literature concerning a specific region, which, however, has universal values and touches on the themes of history, duration and transience, nature and culture. The author seeks to find in the simple life of shepherds values not destroyed by civilization.
