Album of fifty-two battles and one hundred portraits of marshals, generals and the most prominent personalities of the time, as well as a portrait of Napoleon I. A collection of graphics according to Swebach's drawings. Complete edition of the work describing the course of the Napoleonic campaign. Illustrations are taken from paintings by Antoine Charles Horace Vernet (1758-1836), French painter and lithographer; Jacques François Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines (1769-1823), French painter and draughtsman; and from works by Bangean and Roehn. It contains, in order: a portrait of Napoleon I with facsimiles of signatures, a frontispiece (in black and red), an index of plates, 5 plates with images of 100 portraits of personalities arranged alphabetically, 52 plates depicting battle scenes in etchings engraved by leading 19th-century printmakers, including: Masquelier, Dupreel, Simon. Traces of non-moisture and stains, blue half cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine. Condition more like good.
