" Valerius Maximus was a 1st century Roman writer and author of a collection of historical anecdotes: Factorum ac dictorum memorabilium libri IX ("Nine books of memorable deeds and sayings ". He created during the reign of Tiberius (14-37 rne)."

Binding brown leather on board with decorative embossing and anonymous superexlibris - Our Lady of the Apocalypse [ a woman clothed with the Sun] in the central part of the front cover - anonymous bookbinder probably Krakow ( according to Arkadiusz Wagner, Superexlibris of Poland, p.312 ). Rubbing and minor damage to the binding. Block consistent, set of pages. Slight traces of soaking and soiling in places ( title page). On the first page an ownership entry dated 1637.
In the text numerous decorative initials made in woodcut technique , handmade paper of high quality.
