URKE-NACHALNIK
[Icek Boruch Farbarowicz]
CRIMINAL'S OWN BIOGRAPHY
Urke Nachalnik [or actually Icek Boruch Farbarowicz, as that was his real name. Nachalnik was his thieving pseudonym]-a Polish-Jewish pre-war author of detective stories., He came from a Jewish family and was educated as a rabbi. However, he was not an exemplary citizen and had many crimes on his conscience, such as burglary and theft. During his last stay behind the bars of a Rawicz prison, he wrote a memoir about his turbulent life. The book is a testimony not so much to his transgressions, but to the entire process of demoralization that led him down the wrong path. Urke Nachalnik became well-known, especially for his faithful rendering of the conditions of life in the underworld. [Source: Wikipedia]
