Polish Hamlet. The trouble with acting.

Paris 1988; Libella. 8, pp. 323, [1], wraps broch. original.
Soiled and untrimmed covers, otherwise good condition. "Polish Hamlet" is one of the most polemical books on Polish literature. In it, the author accuses not only Andrzejewski, Galczynski, Iwaszkiewicz and Różewicz, but also Milosz of betraying literature and moral ideals. He does not spare the supporters of the one-sided worship of Adam Mickiewicz, rebuking the overlooked qualities of Juliusz Słowacki's work. He shatters the calm flow of the literary essay, expressing judgments also through literary pamphlet and apocrypha. He often builds his statement on the so-called alternative view of literature and history as unfulfilled possibilities, illuminating differently the facts we know.
