This book provides a brief history of the development, culture and customs of Poznan in the 19th century. We learn about its hard road from a fortress city to one of the middle-sized cities of the Reich. We visit representatives of all states and their workplaces and homes. We learn about the fashion, dining and medicine of the time. With family members we go to weddings, funerals and various schools. We spend holidays and leisure time together with cognizant people. Throughout the book there are well-known historical figures of the struggle for Polishness in this partition. Everything is based on solid examples from historical sources and laced with black-and-white photos, maps and lithographs from the era.
