Lacking the frontispiece and title page and 1 plate "Islander of New Caledonia" (second plate "Settlement in Eimeo" inset in vol. 1) in vol. 2. Copy probably inserted in a foreign binding. Paper heavily stained - piece used, restoration recommended. Stamp. On plates in intaglio: vol. 1 - "Isthmus of Estroza in Madeira", "English Missions", "Settlement in Eimeo"; vol. 2 - "Uragan in the Tropic Zones", "Slave Trade on the African Coast"; vol. 3 - "Ostrich hunting", "Tomb caverns in Tenerife".
"A new journey around the earth [...]". - adventure novel by Theodor Tripplin, published in 1855. The work describes the journey of Antoni Zdanowicz, a Polish doctor, beginning in France. It continues through Brazil, Tahiti, the United States, Australia, Madagascar, Tenerife and Switzerland. Zdanowicz traveled with the ship's crew and Princess Tajala, whom he met during the trip. The very detailed descriptions of the United States, Tahiti and the coast of Africa make the reader immerse himself in Dr. Zdanovich's adventures. The entire text is stylized as a diary. The accuracy of the descriptions shows that Tripplin has carefully prepared for writing this novel and presenting places completely unknown to himself (Wikipedia).
