Dissertation by Colonel Waclaw Tokarz (1873 - 1937) - researcher of the history of Poland in the 18th and 19th centuries, professor at the Jagiellonian and Warsaw Universities, head of the Military Institute of Science and Publishing. Describes the two-day struggle of the people of Warsaw during the Kosciuszko Uprising, with shoemaker Jan Kilinski in the lead. It depicts the importance of Warsaw for the Insurrection, the participation of different layers of the population, the course of the fighting, attempts at treaties, losses and destruction.
