(Estr. Vol. 31). "Dedication from a bookseller. Stan. Lubomirscio, comiti in Visnicz. Raises the fame of his name. Mentions his merits in repulsing Osman. Praises Sigismund III. They saved Poland and Germany" (Estreicher). The extensive book contains St. Teresa's most important works, including: "The Book of Life" (a spiritual autobiography, describing the first stage of the saint's life - her childhood, adolescence, the beginnings of religious life, mystical experiences, attempts at religious reform up to the founding of the monastery of St. Joseph. The main theme of the work, however, is her spiritual experiences and the development of her relationship with God); "The Inner Fortress" (the book is considered St. Teresa's spiritual testament and a treasure of Catholic mysticism; its theme is the spiritual development of the Christian leading to unity with God, it also contains an extensive description of various spiritual and mystical graces); "The Way of Perfection" (the purpose of the book was to create a practical guide to moral and spiritual development for Discalced Carmelite nuns and superiors, but the problem was addressed from a broader perspective, so the work takes on a more universal character). The work is dedicated to Stanislaw Lubomirski of the Szreniawa coat of arms without the Cross (1583-1649) - voivode of Cracow, marshal of the Crown Main Tribunal, starost of Spisz, Sandomierz, Lelow, etc.., Royal courtier, rotmistrz of the district army of the Cracow province. Defender of Chocim against the Turks, considered one of the most influential men in Poland. Owner of 18 towns, 313 villages and 163 manors. Saint Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) - Spanish mystic, Carmelite nun, writer of the Counter-Reformation and theologian of the contemplative life, saint of the Catholic Church and Doctor of the Church; reformer of the Carmelite order, together with Saint John of the Cross is considered the founder of the Discalced Carmelites (thus leading to the schism of the congregation). Her books (including her autobiography), are a staple of Spanish Renaissance literature, as well as Christian mysticism and Christian meditation. Good condition, some browning and traces of woodworm in places. On the front pastedown, owner's entry with the date 1725 - the book comes from the book collection of Elilandus Franz Anton Bayr (1688-1749), professor at the University of Salzburg, master of the Bavarian novitiate in Weihestephan, prior and clerical moderator in Benediktbeuern, first superior of the mission in Schwarzach, pastor in Ehingen. Very rare.
