STRZYŻEWSKI Tomasz - The black book of censorship of the Polish People's Republic. [Vol.] 1-2. London 1977-1978. appendix. 16d, pp. 247; 472. pamphlet.
Covers slightly rubbed and dusty otherwise good condition. First edition of the famous book containing censorship materials and documents from the communist period. T. Strzyżewski - an employee of the Cracow delegation of the Head Office of Press, Publication and Audience Control - transcribed by hand extensive fragments of the "Book of Records and Recommendations of the GUPPiW" and smuggled them to Sweden. The unprecedented nature of these materials made them initially doubtful of their authenticity. Finally, in late 1977/1978, two volumes were published in the London edition of "Annex." The disclosure of the secret censorship instructions brought to light the enormity of interference by state institutions in the flow of information. In the 1980s, reprints appeared in underground outlets.
