[STATE OF SERVICE, 1st Guards Cavalry Regiment]. Stefan Horaczko's State of Service of 1811.
One-page document in French on ark. 36.4x24 cm. Table with the service record of the senior (then) chevalier S. Horaczko, with the regimental seal imprinted in ink, with signatures of regimental officers, including Wincenty Krasinski and Tomasz Łubieński. Good condition.
S. Horaczko (1782-1852) - captain of the guard of Emperor Napoleon I, cavalier of the Legion of Honor. "In 1807 he joined the army of the Duchy of Warsaw. He began his service in the 1st Cavalry Regiment of the Imperial Guard. He served in the campaigns of 1808-1814, and participated in the battles of Wagram, Lützen, Budziszyn, Dresden, Leipzig, Hanau, Brienne, Montmirail, Laon, Chateau-Thierry and Arcis-sur-Aube, among others. He participated in the expedition to Russia. On 24.7.1812 near Polotsk he was wounded in the breast by a lance. [He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Legion of Honor for his wartime merits [...]. From 1814, he served as a captain in the 3rd Regiment of Eklerers of the Imperial Guard. He carried out the last military operations in the history of this regiment (blowing up bridges) at Vitry and Choisy-le-Roi to secure the rear of the French army. On 1.5.1814 he and his regiment returned to Poland" (Wikipedia). In the country, he "led the life of a landowner," farming in Dowspuda and Bakalarzewo.
