Poczem goes: De Cyrilli vita. This is a message about the life and writings of Cyril. The works of St. Cyril as interpreted by Jan Grodecki (d. 1574), bishop of Olomouc, canon of Warmia, Glogow and Wroclaw. He began his literary activity in Rome with the publication of the Greek text of St. Cyril of Jerusalem and its translation, which appeared in Vienna in 1560. In 1564 he published in Breslau a translation of all of St. Cyril's catecheses from Greek manuscripts, with which he made a clear entry into the ranks of Counter-Reformation writers. Grodecki accompanied Cardinal Hosius to the Council of Trent. He died suddenly, at a relatively young age, as one of the victims of the "poisoner of bishops" - Rev. John Philopon Dambrowski. He left behind his Diary, in which he recorded the most important events of his life. Early entry on title p., traces of non-moisture. good condition. Very rare.
