Memories from the Polish-Soviet front in the ranks of the 1st Greater Poland Rifle Regiment (55th Poznan Infantry Regiment) from June to December 1920.
Janusz Sopoćko - a certified lieutenant colonel of the Polish Army of the Second Republic. He graduated from the Pavlov Military School in St. Petersburg. He took part in the First World War. He fought near Riga and in Podolia in the 50th Siberian Rifle Regiment, and later against the Bolsheviks in counter-revolutionary formations in Siberia. He remained on the Bolshevik front until December 1920 with the 55th pp. He was awarded the Cross of Valor for these actions and promoted to the rank of sergeant. He became a student at the Higher War College in Warsaw and was appointed a certified captain. Since then he was employed at the General Staff of the Polish Army. He wrote memoirs and papers on the concept of airborne operations, both in terms of mass landings and the metastasis of small special groups, attempting in them to determine the structure of such a unit, its combat capabilities and level of supply. Before 1939, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. Even before the end of the September campaign, he found himself in France, where in 1940 he fought in the 1st Grenadier Division. As a result of the defeat of France, he crossed the border into Switzerland and was interned there. After his release, he found himself in England in the 1st Grenadier Brigade of the 4th DP, which was being formed in Scotland, and became, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, deputy brigade commander. Later he was a member of the Central Regulations Commission. Discharged from the Polish Armed Forces in the West, he initially settled in France. He then moved to Switzerland, where he died.
