Description from Polish Bibliography (Est. XXIX, p.121):

Spiewnik.Qui cantat bis orat.[At the end:] Jmprimatur Cracoviae die 30. Decembris 1800. Anselmus Speiser mpp. Caes. Reg. per Galic. Occid. Librorum Revisor. [On k. 1 v:] In Cracow in Maciej Dziedzicki's Printing House 1802.in 4ce, k. tit., k. 5 nlb., pp. 1-406, 1-96, 505-645.

As can be seen from the above, the printing was started in 1800, but not completed until 1802. In view of this, the work belongs to Bibl. XIX century. But since it was not described there by my father, I give a brief note about it here.

On the reverse of the title are quotations from OO. Church and Skarga, followed by a dedication to Jakub Bryski, prob. of Dobczyce and Wiśniowy. Afterwards a poem "To the Reader", written "at the time of the most terrible woyna of the Year 1800". Further: A way of singing, A collection of the whole work and A correction of the errors. Includes: Psalter, Magnificat, Sunday Hymns, hymns on various subjects, litanies, harvest time, for rain and weather, in sickness, in travel, during mass, songs about saints, during Advent, baptism, weddings, funerals, about the futility of life, etc. All songs numbered. Lots of songs about Polish saints. No. 700 songs of Calvary. No. 640 about St. Casimir. No. 612 about Cyril and Methodius. No. 915 about St. Stan. Kostka. No. 853 about Simon of Lipnica. No. 774 about St. Adalbert. No. 800 about St. Stanislaus the Bishop.

The authors of the songs are not named, but they are mostly reprints of old songs. The publisher was said to be Fr. Folwarski of Kalwarja.Ossol.
