"It was several months after the introduction of martial law. It was quite gloomy, hopeless, and at times threatening. The streets were ruled by the victorious ZOMO, and streams of lies and slander against everything that was honest and valuable in Poland flowed from the TV sets. It seemed that it had to be like this for a long time.
Two came to me, but I was not particularly frightened, because it was in the evening - the SS men walk in the evening, but rather at dawn. They introduced themselves with their real names, Wojciech Starzynski and Andrzej Witwicki [...]. They came with an idea that I thought was great, namely that the history of Solidarity from its birth to December 13 (i.e., above-ground Solidarity) should be reconstructed in a nutshell, and that this should be done in the form of a comic book, which would greatly expand the readership. The idea delighted me, and the only thing I didn't like about it was that the author of the comic book was to be me. It didn't feel right to me. [...]."
