Waclaw Sobieski (1872-1935) was a historian, professor at the Jagiellonian University and researcher of Polish history. He studied in Cracow and Vienna, obtaining his doctorate. He was involved in political history, particularly of the 17th century, studying, among other things, the Polish-Turkish and Polish-Moscow conflicts. He was associated with the Cracow school of history, but had his own views, often controversial. He held academic positions, was a member of the PAU and a founder of the Historical Society. He cooperated with the press and was involved in public life. He died in Cracow, leaving a significant academic output. [PSB]
