Józef Siemiradzki (1858 - 1933) - Polish geologist and traveler, professor of paleontology at Lviv University (1901-1933).
"From Warsaw to the Equator" is a report on Jozef Siemiradzki's expedition to South America, carried out in 1882-83. Siemiradzki and his companion, zoologist Jan Sztolcman (1854-1928), visited Ecuador, where they established a base in Guayaquil. From there they embarked on expeditions deep into the country studying the flora and fauna of this part of America. In Ecuador they also met the famous Polish engineer Ernest Malinowski.
