"See-me-see" is a book about photography for slightly older children and curious adults. However, it does not contain instructions on how to take good photos. Instead, there are many tips on how to view them.
Is a photo where you can't see your face a portrait or not? How does a photo change if you view it next to another photo? Does a mistake in a photograph necessarily mean that the photo is bad? Why do we sometimes think we are looking at a landscape photo, although in reality it is something completely different?
In "See-me-see" we introduce the basic issues of photographic language and encourage you to read images carefully. Reading photography is the ability to look carefully at a photo, ask questions and see that what we see is not always what we think it is. It is the ability to understand what we are looking at. And it's knowing that our habits and knowledge are as important when looking at photographs as the environment in which we view them.
The book includes photographs by Zbigniew Dlubak, Zofia Chomętowska, Wojciech Zamecznik, Rafał Milach and Karolina Wojtas, among others. The photos are accompanied by short texts, a glossary of basic terms related to photography and information, about the photographers / women whose photos can be seen in the book.
