On the back of the title page pastedown protective brand designed by Edward Okunia with handwritten number (11) and initial S. Ż. handwritten by S. Żeromski. The bookplate of J. Weyssenhoff. Edition I. In several places underlining and pencil notations (probably by J. Weyssenhoff) regarding the language of the novel. For example: "rwaczów" - what kind of rwaczów?, "honor". - honor in the sense of 'veil' is an archaism and an ambiguity, "chair-beater" - krzeszczot means the same as biaozor, only from the Russian, "razor shirts" - razor = blade, and what does 'razor shirt' mean?, "practices" (in the phrase "practices cossacks against the fatherland") - b. rarely used in this active form, "dorobkiewicz". - is this the 17th century? there is no word 'dorobkiewicz' in Lindem, "naju" - what is this folk word doing here?
