Edward Leopold Rulikowski (1825-1900) was a Polish historian and researcher of Ukrainian history. Born in Motowidlowka, he came from a landowning family. As a child, he stayed in Samostrzaly and later studied in Paris. After returning to Ukraine, he became interested in archival research, which resulted in his work "Description of the Vasylkivskyi district" (1853). He researched the archives of Lviv, Rome and Paris, establishing scientific contacts. He collaborated with the AU Anthropological Commission and published ethnographic works. After his death, his collections were transferred to the Ossolineum and the Kyiv museum. [PSB]
