Abrasions to spine and cover, vertical spine crease, block slightly loosened, local yellowing of two plates. A comprehensive presentation of the results of the research of the pyramid of Cheops (Great Pyramid) conducted, among others, by the eminent Egyptologist John Taylor, with whom the author of the work presented here had an extensive correspondence. He himself also carried out research at the site making the most accurate measurements of the pyramid at the time. Being an astronomer by training, he devoted a lot of space to pointing out the connections of the architectural assumptions of the buildings with this field of knowledge. Smyth pointed out three "keys" allowing to know the mystery of the Great Pyramid: the first mathematical, the second related to physics and astronomy and the third revealing its religious context. The author's intention is symbolized by the triple gilded key placed on the front cover. The book was first published, in a much more modest form, in 1864.
