Excerpt from the fourth edition of Rej's famous Postylla covering the period from April Sunday to Easter Tuesday - 8 sermons (pages 86-117). The original pages are: 86-90, 96-101,110a -114 (34 pages in total), missing pages in this fragment completed on 18th-19th century handmade paper. Preserved in the text are 4 original large woodcuts (including the Last Supper and the Stations of the Cross). One of the most famous and sought-after Polish postilles. First published in Cracow in 1557 and reprinted in 1560, 1566, 1571 and 1594, it lived to see an edition in Lithuanian (1600) and manuscript translations in Ruthenian. The preserved pages are in very good condition with a few marginalia. Binding faux leather, gilt lettering.
