A novel set against the background of the events of the January Uprising, dedicated in print by the author to Jozef Pilsudski: "The year 63rd stands at the turning point of our history, the old Poland is dying - the new is born..." (from a fragment of the motto to the work). The illustrations, showing portraits, caricatures, memorabilia and paintings on the subject of the uprising, come from the raperswil collection (from the portfolio of I. Mieleszka) and from the author's private collection. Art binding from the Radziszewski workshop (unsigned): half leather ash marbled, spine divided into four unequal fields, in one field on the signboard gilded titulature, in the remaining fields embossed and colored stylized plant backgrounds, in the largest center field symbols of Polish captivity (tsarist eagle, chains). Cardboard covers, lining, upper edges of pages marbled. Slight rubbing of the binding, minor traces of flooding of the first few pages, otherwise very good condition.
