Traces of non-moisture, Rolf G. Norberg's exlibris on the facing page. Good condition. First English translation of Pufendorf's anti-French work (published in the same year as the first French one). The first part of the pagination contains the original Latin text, and the second part contains the English translation. The original was published posthumously in The Hague in 1708. Pufendorf's text was written at the request of Charles XI in 1680, in connection with the planned Swedish-French alliance. Pufendorf writes about the negative experience of alliances with France, which always broke promises and treaty arrangements.
