Stanislaw Ptaszycki (1853-1933) was a historian, archivist and university professor. He studied in St. Petersburg, where he worked in archives and participated in scientific activities. He served as director of the State Archives in Lublin and taught at the Catholic University of Lublin. He conducted research on the history of Lithuania and Poland, especially on the archives of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. He participated in the organization of bibliographic and conservation exhibitions. He was a member of numerous scientific societies, including those in Krakow, Vilnius and St. Petersburg. He was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He died in Warsaw in 1933. [PSB]
