Jan Ptaśnik (1876-1930) was a historian, professor at Jagiellonian University and Lviv University. He was born in Mikluszowice in a peasant family. Initially destined for the clerical state, he graduated from the gymnasium in Bochnia, and then studied history and geography at the Jagiellonian University. He worked as a teacher and later became a professor. He was interested in the history of Cracow, especially the era of humanism and the history of printing. He conducted archival research and published numerous scientific works. He was a member of many scientific societies. He died in 1930 from complications following cancer surgery. [PSB]
