Includes a frontispiece portrait of the author, engraved by Watelet [depicting Genius crowning Corneille's bust]. The offered set contains 28 compositions [copperplate engravings] outside the text by GRAVELOT engraved by Baquoy, Flipart, Lemire, Longueil, among others.

Provenance: Piece from the Potocki family's book collection in Chrząstów [stamped with the Pilawa Potocki coat of arms].
The Chrząstów estate [located in the Wloszczowski district] belonged to hr. Henryk Potocki. The palace collections included a magnificent library with historical works. The palace also had a rich archival collection of the Potocki family of the Chrzastow line.
