In qua varia summorum Pont. decreta ad vsum fori ecclesiastici omnino necessaria ex probatis exemplaribus excerpta referuntur. Coloniae 1615. sumpt. Antonij Boetzeri. (16 x 10 cm), k. [4], p. 449, p. [15], bound in period sc.
(Estr. T. 24). Traces of dampstain and browning, stamps; binding: brown leather with gilt and red signboard on spine, page edges stained. Good condition. The second most important work after the Chronicle of Bishop Pawel Piasecki. "In this work he has explored the whole of Church law and everywhere cites the best sources of the laws he expounds. He lists the most stipulations of the popes in many places going to the gravity of respectable writers. ... This work, especially abroad, was highly esteemed, and had the solemnity even of official and scholarly works" (Orgelbrand). According to Estreicher, the first edition (1611) was placed on the list of banned books due to passages not accepted by the Roman censors. He reports the fact that the controversial texts were removed only in an op-ed of the 1620 edition, so the offered edition of 1615 could also have been placed on the libr. prohib. index. Pawel Piasecki coat of arms Janina (1579 - 1649), royal secretary to Sigismund III Vasa, canon of Poznan, Warsaw, Lublin, bishop of Kamieniec, Chelm and then Przemysl. Rare.
