Lot description
Compendiarius parvorum logicalium liber: continens perutiles Petri Hispani tractatus priores sex et clarissimi philosophi Marsilii dialectices documenta:

cum utilissimis commentariis per virum preclarum Chunradum Pschlacher. Vienne 1512. per Hieronymum Vietorem et Joannem Singrenium. (22.5 x 17 cm), p. [6], f. 226, binding perg. secondary.
(Estr. does not note). A very rare print combining treatises by two prominent medieval thinkers: Petrus Hispanus (later Pope John XXI) and Marsilius of Padua, printed by Hieronymus Vietor (1480-1546), a printer and publisher born in Silesia and active in Vienna and Cracow, who was famous for the quality and quantity of his prints. "Compendiarius parvorum logicalium liber" of 1512 is an important work in the history of logic and philosophy. The book was important for the education of medieval humanists and for the development of logic in scholastic philosophy, as well as during the Renaissance. Hieronim Wietor (1480 - 1547), printer, bookseller, bookbinder, typographer of the royal chancellery of Sigismund the Old. He arrived in Krakow in 1497 and took up bookbinding and printing. Unable to withstand competition from Jan Haller, he moved to Vienna in 1510, where he began printing in partnership with Viennese printer Jan Singrenius. The partnership lasted until 1515. In 1517, he returned to Krakow. Traces of dampstain and flooding, especially of first and last pages, last page with loss of upper corner, fraying of page edges, no. traces of woodworm, title page in red and black, binding perg. Made contemporary. Very rare.
