The author, Jan Gwalbert Henryk Pawlikowski (1891-1962), was a mountaineer, mountain lover, writer and poet, co-founder of the Medyka Library (a publishing series of great artistic and literary value, created by the Wolskis and Pawlikowskis) and husband of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska née Kossak.
