Frederick Papee (1856-1940) - Polish historian, archivist and librarian, doctor of historical sciences. He was an outstanding expert on the history of Cracow and the history of Poland in the Jagiellonian era. He worked as custodian and later director of the Jagiellonian Library. He also served as director of the Archive of Historical Records of the City of Cracow. He is the author of numerous historical works, including a monograph on Cracow, a biography of Queen Jadwiga and studies on Sigismund the Old. He participated in the work on the "Polish Biographical Dictionary." He was revered for his immense contribution to the study of Polish and Cracow history. He died in Cracow in 1940.
