From histmag.org: At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1925, the masters of the Artel of Decorative Art from Palech were extremely successful, winning one grand prix out of the nine then received by the Soviet Union. From that moment on begins a period of incredible popularity for the Palech craftsmen - Ivan Golykov, Ivan Vakurov and Aleksandr Kotukhin traveled all over the world, and separate reports on their activities were prepared by American and German newspapers. In the USSR itself, the Palech artists became the apple of the Bolshevik authorities' eye and the main Soviet "export product. The well-known writer Boris Pilniak dedicated his book Sozrewaniye płodov ([Ripening of the Fruit]) to the Palechs in 1936.
