Warsaw 1945/ Eugeniusz Kuthan Publishing House/ first postwar edition/ publisher's cover, hardback with cloth spine/ 16.5x24 cm/ pp. 85/ numerous black and white illustrations, and four color illustrations on pastedowns/ good condition, rubbing of binding edges. Text preserved in very nice condition.


Selection of legends connected with Warsaw written down by Artur Oppman: The Mermaid, The Church of the Virgin Mary, The Basilisk, Christ the Miracle at the Fara, The Robbers, The White Lady and The Golden Duck.

Testimony to ancient beliefs associated with Warsaw, historical sites and everyday life in the city. Written in prose or verse, tales about Warsaw, heard by the author at the end of the 19th century among the residents of the Capital.
