Zofia Stryjeńska, (Born in 1891, died in 1976). - Painter, graphic artist, illustrator, stage designer, designer of fabrics, posters and toys; associated with Warsaw and Zakopane.
She was the best-known Polish visual artist of the interwar period, along with Tamara Lempicka.
Called "the princess of Polish art" (Mieczysław Grydzewski - "Literary News"), she belonged to the Rhythm art group.
Of her painting techniques, she mainly practiced tempera, but was also preoccupied with lithography, drawing and posters, designed toys and decorative fabrics, and was the author of book illustrations.
Among her best-known works are: Pastorałka, the cycle of Slavic idols and Pascha, illustrations to Krasicki's Monachomachia, Seasons of the Year, Carols, Four Sacraments and Polish Dances.
