P. Nougaret (1742-1823) - French writer, was the author of a series of books intended for the young reader "Beauties of History" of various countries, including Poland (Polish translation came out in 1816). "Beauties of Russian History", in addition to descriptions of customs prevailing in Russia, contain information about dynastic crimes and wars, also numerous polonics (e.g., the wars of the 17th century, the seizure of Moscow, the partitions, the activities of Catherine II's protégé Stanislav Augustus, King of Poland).
