An exceptional volume of Cyprian Kamil Norwid's works, decorated with photographs.
Norwid did not want to be a bard. He projected the poet's vocation differently. He felt differently and developed his own idiom of poetic speech. He knew that with this decision he was condemning himself to singularity. But his singularity is wrongly identified with loneliness. He is not lonely who wants to understand. To comprehend the era and society to which he belongs. How to summarize this task? A poet is one who sees deeper and further. Because he sees deeper, he is a bit of a judge. Because he sees further, he is an organizer of the national imagination. His action is discreet and non-ad hoc. He wrote for his late grandchildren, which we are. Instead of leading, he chose the fate of someone who wonders most deeply in Polish culture. And he demands reflection for himself. He tests each successive generation to see if they are capable of it. For he has possessed the keys from the Echo. His individual, separate thought demands confrontation. One such test is also the present book.
We read him, sometimes we sing him. Let's think with Norwid.
