A novel for young people considered by the author to be a prequel to the series of adventures of Mr. Samochodzik. Later editions of it were titled "Mr. Samochodzik and the Treasure of Athanaric". "The action of the book takes place during the archaeological research of the Goths' cemetery. It shows the daily work of an archaeologist and the adventures of the protagonist related to male-female affairs [...]. The novel is based on a report on archaeological excavations carried out in Węsiorach, which Nienacki published in the weekly Odgłosy in Łódź in 1958.
