The Adventures of Captain Zalganov is a humorous story about the adventures of a brave captain on the seas and oceans of the world. The novel is both a parody of naval novels that were very popular in the 1930s, and of stereotypes about foreigners and other countries that were being spouted at the time.
Captain Zalganov (in the Russian original: Vrungiel) is in fact the naval equivalent of Baron Munchhasen - the stories they tell about their adventures are full of fiction and fantasy designed to attract the attention of the listener (reader). Gat .
In 1976-1979, on the basis of the novel, a series of animated films "Adventures of Captain Vrungel" (Prikluczenia Kapitan Vrungelia) was filmed at the Kiev-based Kijewnauczfilm studio, in which one can find many references to the era of Leonid Brezhnev's rule, the so-called "era of stagnation" (the film was also shown on Polish television). In 1978 a cinema film was made, The New Adventures of Captain Vrungel (Novye prikluczenia Kapitan Vrungelia), which was intended as a continuation of his earlier adventures.
