"The door was opened by the deathly pale Mother. Her eyes were dilated with fear, she stood helpless with her hands lowered and her lips trembled as she said: Basienko, there are two men waiting for you here." This is how memories begin when in the spring of 1951 - the Communist Security Service arrested a young law student Barbara Nawratowicz in Lublin. The future star of "Piwnica pod Baranami" spent three months in a tiny cell, being repeatedly beaten and tortured during interrogations that dragged on for hours. After being released, she escaped to Krakow, where she met Piotr Skrzynecki and Wieslaw Dymny....
