Zofia Nalkowska (1884-1954) - Polish writer and poet.

She made her poetic debut in the modernist "Chimera". However, prose became her preferred genre. She published her novels from the middle of the first decade of the 20th century, and their themes were strongly connected with the Young Poland trend.

Nalkowska's particular desire to learn about the human psyche was revealed in "Characters," a series of sketches that continued for many years - the first appeared in 1922, the next in 1948.

Zofia Nalkowska participated in the work of the International Commission to Investigate Nazi Crimes in Poland - the result of this activity was "Medallions" - a well-known collection of short stories documenting the time of World War II.
