S. Morawski (1802-1853) - doctor of medicine, writer and memoirist, member of the Philaret Society, and from 1820 of the Philomaths. A. Czartoryski and H. Mościcki "discovered" Morawski as a memoirist. Morawski has outstanding writing qualities, his texts contain true pictures of time and people, are characterized by perceptiveness and great humor. The author tells about many of his prominent contemporaries, including Mickiewicz and his St. Petersburg surroundings. Other characters described in this volume include Jozef Sekhkovsky (1800-1858), Maria Szymanowska (1789-1831), Alexander Orlovsky (1777-1832) Alexander Pushkin (1789-1837), Stanislaw August Poniatowski (1732-1798), and Jozef Oleshkevich (1777-1830). Moravsky also describes the first six months of his medical practice. Three of Morawski's diary books have been published. The remaining manuscripts of S. Morawski were burned in a fire along with the Krasinski Ordynacja Library.
