The works that make up the volume undertake an interesting reflection on the past and present of monarchical regimes in various parts of the world, on the influence of monarchy on the culture and state of consciousness of societies living in countries whose system presupposes the existence of a monarch equipped with a different range of powers.

An important aspect of the authors' considerations is a reflection on the factors determining past and present perceptions of the monarch, including the role of the media - both transmitting to the masses a message about the monarch's actions and behavior, and influencing the customs and ceremonies practiced by the rulers.
